The Scourge of the skies

I like spaceships.

Hardly a shock -- as a baby I watched the moon landing live on t.v., I used to sit and watch Star Trek re-runs with my dad as a tyke, and I was nine years old when Star Wars exploded my brain.

Really, I never had a chance. I was always going to like spaceships.

I have many, many miniature spaceship games. The most recent of those is Dropfleet Commander, the companion game to Dropship Commander. In both games I play the United Colonies of Mankind  and their arch enemies -- The Scourge.

The Scourge ships have an alien, organic look to them that I really like. Recently I had a chance to photograph some of my Scourge models on my friend Adam's gorgeous planet mat.

Here is just a small part of my fleet...

Scourge battlecruiser

Scourge battleship

Scourge heavy cruiser

Scourge troopship

Scourge cruiser

Scourge corvettes

One of the innovative aspects of Dropfleet is that games are played out in orbit around a planet, rather than in the cold wastes of deep space. It makes for more visually striking and strategically challenging games.

Thanks for checking out my corner of the web. I'm painting and gaming a lot these days, so I have lots more to share!

Monsterpocalypse: Showdown at Destruction Junction

Boy-howdy, there was no way I could resist getting into the new edition of Privateer Press' game Monsterpocalypse! Giant monsters and Cthulhu?!? That's, like, two of my most favourite things!

So, below, I present my newly-painted Lords of Cthul force for Monsterpocalypse...

Cthugrosh and the servants of Cthul
Each player builds a force of one or more giant monsters, and a host of little support units.

Cthugrosh the Tentacular
For the Lords of Cthul faction, the first monster to rise from the depths is Cthugrosh.

Task Master
The Task Master can fling other units, and wields telekinetic powers.

Squix
The Squix can fly, and weaken nearby enemy forces.

Meat Slaves
The Meat Slaves have no attack of their own, but mutate into other Cthul creatures when destroyed.

Spitters
...and the Spitters are all-terrain ranged units.

I had my first game yesterday, and it was a nail-biter. Jay Griffiths brought his G.U.A.R.D. robo-defenders, and we trashed the downtown core of Destruction Junction.

Cthugrosh vs. Defender X

Who won, you ask? Well, I'm not saying Jay is a bad person, but he threw me into a building
 -- a bunch of times.

Now I'm looking for payback!

Call to Arms: Fyreslayers Update!

Hello 2019! 2018 was a big year for me and the hobby. Today I wanted to showcase my progress on me Fyreslayer army.

For the first time in my memory I failed to meet my Call to Arms target of painting a full 2,000 point army by the deadline of September. I'm not dissapointed, though, my Fyreslayers are coming along nicely, and at this stage I've painted over 70 of my 100+ model collection!

Here below are some images of some of the units and heroes I've finished...

20 Berzerkers w/axe & shield

10 Auric Hearthguard

Magmadroth

Magmadroth

Auric Runefather

Fjur-Grimnir and the Chosen Axes

Auric Runesons

Battlesmith

Grimwrath Berzerker

Doomseeker

Thank you all for checking out my little corner of the web. I have lots more to share, including my stab at The Walking Dead: All Out War!

See you soon!
